Not my cup of tea

I can't say I really cared for the story at all. I didn't really find it funny. The acting and directing seemed fine, but overall I was bored with it pretty quickly.

weeeeeeeee, im glad this movie got picked!

well i loved the movie. it was hilarious considering the time period it came out in and just the freshness of the story. i love harold's death obsessed character and his fake little suicide attempts. i was quite shocked when they ended up sleeping together. i thought it was going to be a relationship based on just plain ol' love without any sexual encounters. but i guess it comes with the territory of love. it was a pretty sweet movie. i liked how she was so full of life and he was so full of death.

I liked how the sexual aspect of their relationship was just one more happy thing for them. It wasn't treated like it was bizarre or freaky-neither of them doubted the other's motives and it wasn't fetishistic, like most movies would have turned it into.

I've always been amused by the repeated faked death scenes, when he's trying to freak his mom out and she's so unflapped about it. I liked how full of life Maude was and can understand her determination to die when *she* was ready, before being stripped of what made her herself by age and time.

I do think the movie falters near the end. Not the plot so much as the pace, which slows up, as if without the oddball death obsession/life celebration young/old duality, there was nothing to drive it on.

It's a very black comedy, not to everyone's taste, but I like it.
